Mothers and
More provides a wide variety of activities for moms to enjoy. It is
a great way to meet other moms in the area in a format that suites your
interests and schedule best. Members can select from a monthly newsletter
which activities they want to join.
Here is a sampling of activities offered by the Central Denver chapter.
Monthly Meetings:
Meetings
are held the 2nd Tuesdays of every
month from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heritage Club (2020 S. Monroe Street). Meetings are for moms only with the exception of
infants up to 6 months old.
Our meetings offer an opportunity for open or planned discussion groups
or guest speakers alternating with social events for moms.
Book Clubs:
The Book Club meets the first
Tuesday of each month at a local bookstore to discuss the chosen book
of the month.
Gourmet Club:
Members get together once a month at a restaurant or make a specific
theme dinner (such as oriental, BBQ or only desserts) together at a
member's house.
Moms’
Nights Out: At
least once a month a social event is offered for mom’s only
in
order to give us a well-deserved break and have some fun. Events
include going out to eat, going to the movies, wine tasting, bowling,
sitting in someone’s hot tub, going to hear some live music,
etc. We are always
open for new ideas.
Margarita Night:
Once a month we get together at a local restaurant to enjoy some
appetizers and drinks.
Playgroups:
Playgroups
are multiple times during the week. Playgroups are held at neighborhood
parks when weather permits. Once the cold weather sets in, the
playgroups will be held indoors at homes of members and various special
outings to other indoor sites. We
offer both infant and toddler level playgroups. In addition we have picnics and "fieldtrips" to museums and farms.
Arts and Craft: Once
a month we plan an arts and craft day at a local library or a member's
house. The kids get the opportunity to make a craft and play with
their friends. The craft project is usually coordinated with the time
of the seasons, such as spring we color flowerpots, in October we make
halloween craft and in December we decorate cookies, etc.
Kids and Family
Activities: Parties such as a Halloween Party, a Kid's Holiday Party and a Mom's
Only Holiday Party. A Spring Fling with an Egg Hunt and
a Familiy Picnic are arranged for families.
New Member Party: Twice a year all new members are invited to join the coordinators for a luncheon or
picnic. This gives the new members the opportunity to meet other new
members and to ask questions at a smaller venue.
Care Committee:
Volunteers
help members who need it (those with new babies; those moving; having
surgery or suffering from an illness) by cooking and delivering
home-cooked meals.
Community Service:
We coordinate donations and activities for people in need.
Email
Network: Even when you can’t get out of your
house, you’re connected to your chapter for nearly instant
advice on everything from good restaurants to sibling squabbling.
Newsletters:
You receive two—one specific to our chapter and one from the
National organization!
